OABOA Now Organizing -- Join Today
The Ohio Antique Boiler Operators Association Inc. is a newly-formed, non-profit association whose mission is to promote safety for operators of antique boilers--including steam traction and portable engines. The group's members include a wide range of boiler operators and owners from Ohio and neighboring states.
The OABOA's current work includes a proposal (revised 12-22-08) for submission to the Ohio Antique Boiler Board as it considers the issue of maximum working pressure guidelines for antique historical boilers. The proposal has received endorsement from the National Threshers Association, which conducts the oldest annual gathering of steam engine enthusiasts in the United States.
OABOA's future projects include compiling a database of manufacturers' specifications, including working pressure guidelines, for antique boilers. Those specifications will be housed, in PDF format, on this website.
